Injured Falcons QB Ryan likely to start (AP)

Atlanta Falcons quarterback Matt Ryan doesn't believe his limited participation in practice this week will affect whether he starts Sunday against Buffalo. Coach Mike Smith listed Ryan as "limited" after a two-hour session Thursday. "I'm feeling pretty good. I'm getting a little better every day, which is a good thing," Ryan said.

Haynesworth fined $10K, Jacobs $7,500 (AP)

Washington Redskins defensive tackle Albert Haynesworth was fined $10,000 and New York Giants running back Brandon Jacobs was hit for $7,500 by the NFL on Thursday. The players were fined for an altercation late in New York's 45-12 victory last weekend. Haynesworth struck Jacobs after a play ended and Jacobs struck back.

Saints hire Carney as kicking consultant (AP)

Two days after waiving veteran kicker John Carney, the Saints have brought him back as a kicking consultant. Saints coach Sean Payton announced the move after Thursday's practice. Payton says the 45-year-old Carney's knowledge of the game from his 21-years of playing experience will be invaluable to second-year place kicker Garrett Hartley.

Bills’ Fitzpatrick misses practice again (AP)

Bills interim coach Perry Fewell is taking a wait-and-see approach with his quarterbacks after starter Ryan Fitzpatrick missed his second straight practice because of an ankle injury. Fewell said Fitzpatrick is feeling better and did "a little throwing" before practice Thursday as the Bills (5-9) prepare to play at Atlanta (7-7) this weekend.
